Meet our founder Sheena Marie
I started this foundation when I was pregnant with my second son and had contracted Delta Covid during my 4th month of pregnancy. Shortly after recovering from Covid I had my genetics testing done and was informed by the doctor that my baby had a single hole VSD. I was told by the doctor that this was extremely common and that it would possibly close up by his 1st birthday. I was then taken into a meeting room with a hospital representative and was presented with an option to abort my child. I felt helpless and confused.
With my background of digital strategy I felt uneducated enough to make this decision. I felt that I had nowhere to turn with the lack of current studies and resources for pregnant women in this situation. I made the decision to keep my baby and when he was born I was informed that he had a total of 5 holes and was given no further information until I met with a pediatric cardiologist. I felt confused and even more helpless than before. I was thankfully able to navigate this stressful situation with the help of an amazing pediatric cardiologist and nursing staff. A year later, my son currently has 1 single hole left and is in otherwise great health.

Our Volunteers
I started this charity in hopes to provide information and resources to other pregnant women and families who might be going through a similar situation and don’t know where to turn. Through this foundation I hope to help others feel a sense of relief through providing resources and information to help create a better understanding around VSD.
With this foundation I hope to help more babies win at life through providing education and understanding of what VSD is to parents and how it actually impacts a fetus. With the contributions I hope to fund studies for resources on how Covid may have an effect on fetal hearts.
